Work Hours

Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm (Some Weekends)

 

General Summary

Provide exceptional operations support to enable the successful execution of Supply Chain operations and technologies, including the utilization of Pyxis technologies, and performing data analysis and running reports from SAP and Pyxis. Coordinate and manage Supply Chain related special projects with other stakeholders.


 

Work Performed

  • Technology Operations & Installation:

    • Support the installation and operation of Pyxis technologies, collaborating with impacted stakeholders (e.g., Information Systems, Engineering, nurse managers, and BD representatives).

    • Build, load, and label Pyxis stations.

    • Provide support for various supply chain technology solutions, including barcode scanners, RFID, and other wireless products.

    • Develop and execute system functional testing for new technology installations.

  • Training & Data Management:

    • Conduct technology trainings for all end users, including Supply Chain personnel and nursing staff.

    • Perform data analysis using SAP and Pyxis to support Supply Chain operations.

    • Manage issues resulting from faulty data flow between Pyxis and SAP (e.g., unit of measure discrepancy errors).

    • Build new, update existing, and delete obsolete inventory locations in SAP and Pyxis.

  • Project Management & Coordination:

    • Coordinate with Corporate Data Informatics and the Center of Excellence on special projects.

    • Provide support for Supply Chain-related special projects.

  • Daily Functions & Process Improvement:

    • Manage patient reconciliation.

    • Perform monthly preventive maintenance.

    • Document service calls.

    • Support and visit all Duke Health System facilities to ensure the functionality of Supply Chain technology and reporting.

    • Possess the ability to work with little or no supervision.

    • Continuously strive to improve processes to enhance services.

    • Work cooperatively with others to achieve organizational and team goals.

    • Contribute to creating new ideas and problem-solving.

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical staff and external customers to promote efficient patient care.

  • General Responsibilities:

    • Perform additional job functions, within reason, that are necessary to ensure safe patient care practices as directed by Supply Chain management.

    • Be cross-trained and perform, when needed, in other Supply Chain-related roles.


 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Technology & Systems Knowledge:

    • Advanced knowledge of hospital supply chain/distribution systems, including expertise with supplies, ordering, workflow, and departmental limitations.

    • Proficiency with Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems such as SAP and Pyxis, including the ability to perform data analysis, run reports, and manage inventory locations.

    • Strong technical competency with supply chain technology solutions like barcode scanners, RFID, and wireless products.

    • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Operational & Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills to interpret data from system reports and support operational decisions.

    • Proven problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues related to system data flow, equipment functionality, and operational discrepancies.

    • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and data reconciliation.

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating a high degree of proactivity and autonomy.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

    • Proven interpersonal communication skills to effectively train end-users and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including clinical staff, IT professionals, and vendors.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to document service calls, manage projects, and maintain effective working relationships.

    • A proactive and positive customer service philosophy with a sense of urgency to respond to customer needs.


 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Completion of technical certifications is preferred but not required.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Two years of experience in a hospital supply chain or related setting.

  • Experience with SAP Supply Chain capabilities, Pyxis technologies, and project management.

  • Experience with supply chain technology solutions (e.g., barcode scanners, RFID, and other wireless products).

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Excel, Outlook, and Word.

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

  • A valid state driver's license is required.

  • Completion of technical certifications is preferred.


 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • The job requires the ability to push/pull unloaded and loaded supply carts, with a daily duty requiring up to 100 pounds of exertional force.

  • Frequent reaching, lifting, stooping, and bending are required.
