JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Medical Secretary in our Duke Vascular Surgery clinic to be responsible for coordinating venous peri operative activities related to scheduling patients for surgery.  Responsible for performing a variety of duties both in the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with clinical scheduling and patient care coordination. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule post-operative appointments.
  • Review New Patient visit charts for images, medical records, and ensure Ultrasound is scheduled if needed. 
  • Review Return Patient charts for appointment accuracy and ensure previous visit orders are complete.
  • Schedule radiology studies, follow-up visits and/or other referrals as requested by MD/APP needed for clinic visits.
  • Obtain outside images from power share and Scan medical records into charts.
  • Cancel/reschedule any clinic visits for SCR <45 days.
  • Schedule meetings for provider/administrative staff.
  • Schedule all venous procedures and communicate schedule with patient and care team.
  • Schedule OR procedures and update physician calendars.
  • Other duties as determined by clinic needs.

 

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education.
  • Work requires two years of related medical clerical experience sufficient to acquire skills in transcribing medical terminology, office organization and communications.

  • A completed medical secretarial program (nine months up to two years accredited program) may be substituted for equivalent experience.

 

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
