General Description of the Job Class
A Central Sterile Processing Technician, Certified is responsible for cleaning, decontami nation, assembly, and high-level disinfection of all reusable medical in strumentation. Maintains high standards consistency and continuous produ ct flow between the OR and Sterile Processing. Responsible for maintaini ng adequate supply levels in sterile storage area, rotating stock as app ropriate pulling case carts for the daily surgical schedule.
< h3>Duties and Responsibilities of this LevelCleans, decon taminates, assembles, and disinfects scope trays and equipment following established tray lists and manufactures recommendations.
Maintain s communication with customers and departments regarding requests and de livery of sterile supplies.
Promotes best practice by demonstratin g a commitment to quality patient care.
Performs assigned duties t o maintain unit in a state of survey readiness and maintain quality init iatives. For example quality control measures, emergency equipment check s, and department cleanliness.
Uses the computerized instrument tr acking system in the performance of assigned duties, obtaining instrumen t count sheets, obtaining special handling instructions for instrumentat ion documenting sterilization loads, and other assigned tasks.
Adh eres to unitprograms to support patient care such as maintaining a quie t environment and customer service.
Efficient and punctual distrib ution of case carts, equipment, and stat supplies to the OR and Maintain sterility and or cleanliness according to hospital protocol.
Main tain accurate log for equipment out for repair.
Tests operational efficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessing and reports problems to appropriate leadership.
Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)
May assist wit h teaching of new hires and work as resource person for other staff as w ell as other units in hospital.
Performs other related duties inci dental to the work described herein.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not req uired to have high school diploma or equivalent.
Experienc e
No experience required beyond certification.
