The smallest of the four Duke Health hospitals at 123-beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.
Summary & Work Performed
- The Rehabilitation Department Exercise Physiologist oversees treatment of patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and program functions for those patients.
- The Exercise Physiologist is competent to modify and instruct exercises for patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program, Fitness, (Phase IV Cardiac Rehab), and/or Therapy programs.
- The Exercise Physiologist works with other Exercise Physiologists, Nurses, athletic trainers, or Physical therapists to make sure that Cardiac Rehabilitation is carried out per state and Federal guidelines.
- Other duties required are: answering phones, communicating with Physicians and other team members.
- The Exercise Physiologist will assist maintenance of exercise equipment in the Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehab Departments.
- The Exercise Physiologist may participate in health related education activities for the community in regard to cardiac and Rehabilitation programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or Specialist.
Experience
- Six months or more of clinical experience.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required to supervise Cardiac Rehab patients during exercise (ACLS).
