Occupational Summary

Neuromodulation and stroke recovery Laboratory focuses on using various non-invasive brain stimulation tools (including transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, low intensity focused ultrasound and etc) to treat post-stroke deficits including post-stroke motor impairment, visual field deficits and central post-stroke pain syndrome. We aim to understand the mechanisms of motor/visual field deficit/post-stroke pain syndrome recovery and identify proper targets for precision rehabilitation/intervention; we have projects to develop neuro-imaging and neurophysiology-based biomarkers, for example, we are quantifying the stroke lesion load to the corticospinal tract and how they correlate with motor improvement with brain stimulation tools. The Lab has 3 locations (Duke main campus, acute stroke unit and Duke Rehabilitation Institute). Our Lab staffs are typically from Biomedical Engineering or rehabilitation science or neuroscience backgrounds.

Work Performed

· Work with PI to get involved with research project to collect, process, and analyze behavioral, clinical, neurophysiology, and imaging data from healthy control and stroke patients

· Assist to write and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals

· Collaborate with lab staff and participate in weekly project meetings

Min Degree Requirements:

BA or BS Other Credential/Experiential Requirements: Student must be engaged in graduate research sponsored by a Duke faculty member.
