Occupational Summary

Violin and Viola teacher for elementary, middle and high school students in the String School, a pre-collegiate program administered by the Music Department.

 

Work Performed

Work closely with students of varying levels of ability, from beginning to advanced levels of playing.

Teach and select scales, etudes, and pieces for private students as well as chamber groups at an appropriate pace for students’ level of ability.

Be able to lead violin and intermediate level orchestra ensembles and manage webpage for any assigned ensembles.

Prepare students for solo recitals, ensemble rehearsals and concerts.

Coordinate with other String School teachers, parents, volunteers, students, and the Director. 

Attend monthly String School teacher meetings and DUSS concerts.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Violin or Viola Performance, or Music Education.

Experience with both Suzuki and Traditional pedagogical methods, with a preference for the pedagogical methods outlined on StringPedagogy.com developed by Mimi Zweig.

Experience teaching group violin classes preferred
