The Duke Divinity School Office of Communications is seeking a Senior Multimedia Producer to join our content strategy team. In this creative and hands‑on role, you will design, produce, and manage compelling multimedia content, including photography and videography, that advances the school’s strategic communications goals. The position will report to the Director of Digital Strategy.
This position will help design appropriate multimedia content for strategic communications objectives, including brand/marketing videos, focused storytelling/profiles, interviews, event coverage, and short-form video. You will collaborate with other team members in the Office of Communications and support and coordinate with departments throughout the school to create multimedia content that aligns with Duke Divinity School priorities. In addition, you’ll manage the photography and video assets for the Office of Communications, including Digital Asset Management and archival best practices.
Your work, which will appear on channels including the website, social media, YouTube, and during in-person events, will help shape how prospective students, alumni, donors, church and community partners, the Divinity School community, and the broader Duke community experience the life and work of our school.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Training: Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline.
Experience: Work requires two years of directly related writing experience OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

- Thorough knowledge of lighting for video and photography and associated equipment, as well as audio capture and equipment for video
- Thorough knowledge of video file formats, encoding best practices for social media, YouTube, etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education environments
- Writing experience, including published work
- Drone pilot certification
- Experience with digital archives or asset management systems
- Enthusiasm for mission‑focused communications

- Demonstrated professional experience in photography and videography.
- Deep understanding of multimedia’s role in content strategy.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Skill in lighting design, camera operation, audio capture, and related production equipment.
- Knowledge of video formats, encoding standards, and optimization for platforms such as YouTube and social media.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Occasional travel for local video and photo shoots.

As Senior Multimedia Producer, your work will include:
Videography (50%):
- Work with the Director of Digital Strategy to identify video projects for the website, social media, and other channels to support the school's communications goals.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Digital Strategy, plan and implement video projects, from storyboarding to production to post-production, including filming, video editing, and any needed scripting.
- Shoot video with a variety of equipment, including DSLRs, camcorders, and phones.
- Serve as videographer for live shoots as needed.
- Travel as needed for local video shoots.
- Identify and execute video projects for social media channels including Instagram and Facebook, delivering file formats, encoding, and aspect ratios appropriate to each medium.
- Coordinate with departments throughout the school, including Divinity+, Field Education, Admissions, and the Office of External Relations as needed to identify subjects for filming and schedule shoots for projects identified by the Office of Communications.
- Working with the Director of Digital Strategy, develop a content strategy for the Divinity School's main YouTube channel, identifying needed video content for the primary audiences.
- Manage the school’s video channels, including YouTube, to ensure featured videos are selected for landing page, and all videos are organized, titled, and described appropriately with compelling thumbnail images.
- Maintain a Divinity stock library of video assets that can be used to create targeted video messages,
- Coordinate with Duke University colleagues as needed to make use of shared university resources, such as access to special studio space, and to build community and share knowledge with other videographers at Duke.
- Add videos as appropriate to the website's multimedia archive, and ensure they are tagged and described correctly.
- Develop a standard look-and-feel for video openers, closers, lower-thirds, and other video elements to build a consistent style.
- Provide appropriate training for the Office of Communications on video production and editing to support building communications capacity across the Divinity School.
- Keep up with the latest trends in video production, and evaluate technical equipment needs.
Photography (30%):
- Under guidance of Director of Digital Strategy, attend and take documentary-style photos and posed photos as requested at identified key events throughout the year.
- Take headshots of Divinity School community members as needed by the Office of Communications.
- Maintain stock photography for the school's print and digital communications and marketing channels, including photos of classes, students interacting, students studying, field education placements off-site, and other photos that illustrate the life of the school, including its events, activities, students, faculty, staff, and guests.
- Travel as needed for local photoshoots.
- Edit all photos as needed to improve color, tone, contrast, brightness, etc.
- Coordinate with/direct student photo/video contributors.
Maintain and optimize media assets archive (20%):
- Design and implement a system for storing video clips and projects for later access and retrieval.
- Maintain the school's photography archive, including ensuring assets are uploaded and tagged appropriately in our digital asset management system.
- Provide training and support to other digital asset management system users.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $86,700.00.
