General Description of the Job
The Senior Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for defining, developing, delivering, and measuring the recruitment strategy across Duke University Health System. This strategy involves addressing the existing organizational demand while proactively collaborating on workforce planning and future health system growth. This position will directly lead and develop a team of Assistant Directors while supporting a large-scale team of recruiters and sourcers. This role will collaborate with senior level stakeholders across DUHS to develop new strategies to attract and retain key talent.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning
- Design, develop, and implement tactical direction, methodology and resources to implement competitive internal and external recruitment strategies to attract and retain key talent across DUHS
- Proactively collaborate and lead workforce planning strategies with key stakeholders to achieve having the right talent, in the right place, at the right time to meet key business objectives
- Develop and execute strategic recruitment plans that align with DUHS's growth objectives and timelines
- Partner with DEIB team and across the organization to develop key goals, metrics, and processes to maximize DEIB recruitment strategies
- Lead system-wide projects to ensure comprehensive review and communication.
- Identify and implement, in partnership with AVP, team structure/alignments to support DUHS current and future business demand focusing on creative and forward-thinking approaches
- Performance Excellence
- Leads a data-driven recruiting department, leveraging analytics, benchmarks and metrics to support efficiencies and decision-making.
- Elevates the hiring manager and candidate experience in all decision making, processes and programs by identifying and partnering with operational leaders to deliver improvements
- Delivers talent acquisition excellence including the development and implementation of strategies to source recruit and select a diverse and highly qualified workforce.
- Maintain a consistent recruitment process throughout all supported DUHS areas, addressing any concerns and securing support from senior leadership.
- Relationship & Team Development
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with key leaders and internal customers across the business as a trusted talent strategist and advisor.
- Coaches, develops, empowers and motivates a high-performing team of enthusiastic recruiting professionals.
- Drive Culture Pulse improvement in partnership with greater New Talent Strategies leadership team
- Tactical Execution
- Support day-to-day recruitment escalations across high priority and hard to fill areas, removing barriers and providing additional guidance for recruiters/sourcers across the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
- Seven or more years of work experience in talent acquisition or human resources required
- Previous experience in building and operationalizing talent acquisition programs and support preferred
- Previous leadership experience in managing and driving performance of large teams in complex organizations
- Previous experience leading people with strong coaching, motivating and mentoring skills required.
- Previous experience successfully managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders with a consistent track record of delivering on- time, high quality results.
- Experience in workforce development, workforce planning, organizational design preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to toggle between strategy development & tactical execution.
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, at ease with abundance of details and complexity, yet mindful of big picture, ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize them, and carry them out independently.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, complex and fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with colleagues, clients and team members
- Demonstrated self-motivation, energy and tenacity in achieving results; optimistic yet realistic; upbeat attitude; ability to work in fast- paced, growing environment required.
- Flexibility to travel both locally, regionally and nationally to represent Duke University Health System is required.
