Occupational Summary

 

Supervise and participate in Central Warehouse activities related to receiving, storing, shipping, dispatching and delivery of materials and supplies to ensure effective and efficient warehouse operations and material transportation.

 

Work Performed

 
Daily Operations:

 

VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory/Just in Time Supply Delivery) Support

  • Provides back up support to the Logistic & Training Manager.
  • Provides logistical support with supply delivery  
  • Coordinates movement of supplies interdepartmentally when necessary

Warehouse Operations

 

  • Manages warehouse inventory
  • Manages and maintains an organized and clutter-free warehouse and work station
  • Coordinates all warehouse (VMI, item repair, etc.) activities and inventory
  • Maintains detailed records for all equipment and warrantee information
  • Recommends supplies, equipment, tools, & vehicles for purchase

Microfiber Operations

 

  • Coordinates the cleaning, tracking, pickup and delivery of all microfiber
  • Maintains bin audits and inventory for microfiber program.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to develop/adjust/improve microfiber pickup/delivery routes.

 

Preventative Maintenance Program

 

  • Uses EAM to track and complete all work orders and special event assignments
  • Perform the more complex clerical and manual tasks associated with receiving, repairing, calibrating, storing and issuing equipment and supplies as well as the maintenance of related records.
  • Works with the Logistics Training Manager in the preparation of reports and analysis setting forth trend of equipment repairs; prepare and maintain records of repaired equipment. Retrieve items needing repairs from user units and make the necessary repairs where possible; report needs for major repairs to supervisor; perform preventative maintenance on returned items
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to adjust/improve all preventive maintenance routes
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to monitor locations for quality control and to check the completion of equipment repairs & microfiber to ensure equipment and materials are being properly maintained.
  • Acts as liaison with equipment repair vendors and coordinates all related work and operations.

 

Supervision

 

  • Ensure that assignments are appropriately staffed and that employees have adequate supplies and equipment for completion of assignments
  • Perform various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring and vacation schedules
  • Provide and document weekly staff meetings
  • Manages employee time including API input
  • Ensures repair tech/microfiber support employees maintain daily schedules and routes
  • Assigns repair tech/microfiber support employees various duties not covered in daily schedules and routes
  • Performs license and DOT checks monthly
  • Maintains files and records

 

Training and Other Responsibilities

 

  • Provides support to training programs
  • Coordinates with vendors for training, inventory, receiving and delivery needs
  • Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of site locations

Safety

 

  • Attends Facilities Management unit specific safety meetings
  • Ensures all safety programs/training for the unit are current
  • Maintains a safe working environment

 

Consulting/Communications

 

  • Discuss general equipment maintenance procedures with personnel of the assigned area; recommend and implement changes and procedures
  • Provides timely customer service
  • Communicates the status and needs of department equipment and laundry operations regularly with manager and customers
  • Communicates with customers about service issues
  • Responds to and investigates problems and complaints received to ensure resolution

 

Data Management

 

  • Maintain records and submit reports concerning personnel, equipment, supplies, materials & expense using work management system.
  •  Track employee compliance to University standards. 

 

Motorized/Equipment

 

  • Take necessary action to correct any mechanical, structural, or electrical condition in need of repair or replacement on UEVS equipment

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education/Training

 

Work requires communication and analytical skills normally acquired through a high school education

 

Experience

 

Work requires 6 years of shipping, receiving, stocking and warehousing experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Work requires a valid North Carolina driver's license.

 

Preferred Experience

 

  •  Forklift certification
  • 3 years of equipment/warehouse management experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

 

  • Advance operation of equipment used in the environmental services field
  • Customer relation and service techniques
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently
  • Monitor and ensure the training of new personnel
  • Ability to provide instructions and coordinate the work of others
  • Prepare and maintain records
