Overview:

LIVE FOR LIFE® at Duke is a comprehensive employee health improvement initiative that is focused on enhancing the health and productivity of the workforce by providing opportunities that make it easier to practice prevention and to take personal responsibility for their health. Position is onsite with possibility of limited remote work.

Onsite at Duke Clinics, Durham, NC

 

Work Schedule:

40 hrs/ 8-5pm M-F

 

Summary:

  • The Staff Specialist is the take-charge, organized professional(s) that supports all LIVE FOR LIFE (LFL) programming and manages day-to-day internal operations. Works together with a team of staff specialists to support a friendly, caring, and welcoming environment to all customers.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the front desk of the facility for ~20 hours a week.
  • Assist employees with phone, e-mail and in-person inquires.
  • Process applications for Duke Fitness Club memberships including enrolling, making changes, processing cancellations, and collecting payments from members.
  • Assist with mail operations for all LFL staff.
  • Assist employees with incentive purchases from the LFL Store. Inventory all LFL store supplies available for purchase by customers.
  • Conduct small, detail oriented projects as assigned by the various LFL managers.
  • Complete data entry for various projects including but not limited to: Health Assessment screenings, Duke Fitness Club transactions, Nutrition/Fitness consultations, and budgeting.
  • Update internal and external forms for informational use about LFL programming.
  • Prepare educational and informational handouts for all LFL programs on an as needed basis.
  • Assist LFL staff with other programming needs as assigned.

 

Education:   

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, research and communications principles normally acquired through two years of postsecondary education.

 

Experience: 

Work generally requires three years of clerical or research experience to acquire skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office organization, communications and research practices.

 

A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement.
