Duke PRIME-PREP Scholar

 

PREP Position Description, 06/2024

This position will involve career development and research activities. The curriculum will include didactic lecture series focusing on fundamentals of scientific research, scientific writing, statistics, and career development. Training will also include in-depth mentored research with a Duke Faculty mentor, as well as peer mentoring. You will be required to follow departmental protocols in place.   

Work Preformed

Perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests, experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes; compile, analyze, document and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results. Confer with assigned faculty mentor and lab team to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments. Collaborate with faculty mentor and laboratory team members to maintain and perform work according to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices. Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments. Perform other laboratory duties and career development activities as assigned.

 

Know and follow policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulations and protocol requirements that govern clinical research.  Maintain Duke and project specific training and certification requirements.

Qualifications Required At This Level

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical, or psychological science field.

 

Experience:

Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.
