The Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies (CAGT) at Duke University is seeking a Research Project Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of research and administrative strategies that drive CAGT’s scientific mission forward.

 

You’ll coordinate complex research programming, foster strategic partnerships, and design outreach initiatives that amplify our research achievements. You’ll also manage pre- and post-award functions for milestone-driven projects, support faculty recruitment, and serve as a key connector across technical and administrative teams. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of genomic research at Duke and beyond.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Four years of experience in project management with increasing scope and independence.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in Project Management or related field.
  • Experience leading scientific teams in proposal development and project execution.
  • Proven ability to identify and secure federal and non-federal funding for biomedical research.
  • Strong skills in organizing education, outreach, and public communication programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement research strategies that enhance the efficiency and impact of investigator-led programs.
  • Coordinate research programming including working groups, retreats, workshops, and internal funding announcements.
  • Shape research direction by guiding project priorities, contributing to innovative proposals, and supporting faculty recruitment.
  • Facilitate funding opportunities by identifying sources, managing complex submissions, and overseeing internal funding processes.
  • Design and direct outreach initiatives that promote CAGT’s mission, achievements, and training opportunities.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to expand research impact and collaboration.
  • Supervise cross-functional operations and ensure effective communication across faculty, research staff, students, and administrative teams.

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $76,811.00 to USD $130,576.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
