As a Term-Limited Research Associate on a groundbreaking project led by Professor Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team exploring how to build morality into AI systems and regulate their actions. Your work will help shape the ethical future of artificial intelligence.

What You’ll Do:
- Conduct innovative research in moral psychology and moral artificial intelligence.
- Help build a system designed to predict patients’ treatment preferences, contributing to more ethical and personalized healthcare.
- Coordinate and participate in the collection, interpretation, documentation, and summarization of descriptive, analytical, and evaluative data.
- Establish and refine procedures for data procurement through observation, interviews, and analysis of records and other sources.
- Prepare reports and analyses that track progress, identify trends, and offer actionable recommendations.
- Recommend and implement new methods for data collection and documentation; write and revise procedural manuals as needed.
- Oversee data coding and preparation for computer processing, ensuring quality control in collaboration with University data processing teams.
- Perform other related duties that support the success of the research initiative.

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least one year of experience in a related research or data-focused role — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 20.35 to USD $30.82. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
