As a Term-Limited Research Associate on a groundbreaking project led by Professor Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team exploring how to build morality into AI systems and regulate their actions. What You’ll Do:

Conduct innovative research in moral psychology and moral artificial intelligence.
Help build a system designed to predict patients’ treatment preferences, contributing to more ethical and personalized healthcare.
Coordinate and participate in the collection, interpretation, documentation, and summarization of descriptive, analytical, and evaluative data.
Establish and refine procedures for data procurement through observation, interviews, and analysis of records and other sources.
Prepare reports and analyses that track progress, identify trends, and offer actionable recommendations.
Recommend and implement new methods for data collection and documentation; write and revise procedural manuals as needed.
Oversee data coding and preparation for computer processing, ensuring quality control in collaboration with University data processing teams.
Perform other related duties that support the success of the research initiative.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
At least one year of experience in a related research or data-focused role — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 20.35 to USD $30.82.
