Our department is seeking a Research & Development Engineer II to join our innovative team. In this role, you will provide journeyman-level professional engineering services across electrical, electronic, biomedical, and mechanical fields. You will design, develop, and test specialized instruments and systems that support groundbreaking research and development activities. Your work will directly impact the success of projects and contribute to Duke’s mission of excellence and discovery.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related natural such as Physics or Chemistry. Due to professional exemption, equivalent experience cannot substitute for a bachelor's degree.
- Two years of related experience sufficient to acquire competency in the application of engineering principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or related natural science.
- Experience designing and testing specialized instruments and systems.
- Proficiency in integrating analog and digital hardware with computer software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to provide engineering assistance and consultation to faculty and student researchers.
- May require occasional travel for research collaboration.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $66,587.00 to USD $100,880.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
