The Exposure Biology and Chemistry Laboratory (EBCL), established by Prof. Junfeng (Jim) Zhang and co-directed by Profs. Junfeng Zhang and Yan Lin, conducts biomarker-based research focusing the complex interactions between human host factors (genetic traits, health status, etc.) and environmental exposures (especially air pollution and wildfires) in order to understand how risk factors affect human health at the individual and population levels. Research outcomes are expected to help design more personalized prevention and intervention strategies to reduce the harmful effects of environmental hazard.
Minimum Requirements:
- Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.
- No experience required above education/training requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of wet laboratory safety and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
- At least one year of experience in analytical chemistry laboratory, or a BS or MS degree in chemistry or related majors.
- Ability to work collegially with other personnel in a teamwork environment.
This position is onsite. The work is performed on-site at A-wing of Levine Science Research Center.

- Perform routine wet lab analysis tasks including storing and labelling samples, processing samples, and performing instrument analysis.
- Understand and comply with laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies and procedures. Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report laboratory test results to appropriate personnel.
- Calibrate and perform routine maintenance of instrument; maintain laboratory supply of chemicals and glassware; and keep a clear record of instrument use and maintenance.
