Occ Summary

Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized n ursing care for patientsin accordance with guidelines established within the Discipline ofNursing Clinical Ladder Program; participate in educat ional activitiesdepartmental committees, research projects or other heal threlatedprojects as assigned. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the NorthC arolina Board of Nursing.


Work Performed

Identify car eneeds for patient populations across the continuum ofcare. Collaborate and provide leadership in the development of standardsof care, patient/f amily education and staff education to address theneeds of specific popu lations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamand provide leadership w ith in the delivery of patient care.Provide leadership in educational ac tivities, departmental committees,research projects and other health-rel ated projects.Provide evaluation, direction and guidance in the proper s election, use,care and control of material resources. Appraise quality a ndeffectiveness of material and equipment and collaborate with appropria tedepartments to assist with vendor selection and feedback on performanc e.Guide the professional growth ofothers across the continuum of careth rough role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring. This may includedesignin gorientation modules, primary precepting of senior nursingstudents.Provi de leadership at a departmental, entity, community orregional/nationall evel for initiatives focused on improving the qualityof care for populat ions of patients and growth of others.Perform other related duties incid ental to the work described herein.

Education

Work requires gradua tion from an accredited BSN program.Exception:Registered nurses hired b etween July 1, 2014 and April 11,2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nur sing (or higher) are encouragedto enroll in an appropriate BSN program w ithin two years of their startdate but must complete the program within seven years of their startdate. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2 014 are not required toenroll in a BSN program to remain in this job cla ssification.


Experience

No experience required.All CN Is will be enrolled in and must complete the DUHS Vizient NurseResidency Program within 12 months of hire.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifica tions

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of N orthCarolina. BLS required.
