Pursue your passion for caring with Duke HomeCare & Hospice, which offers hospice, home health, and infusion services across the region, as well as serves as the home forthe Duke Caregiver Support Program. Team members work closely with a patient's physician to provide comprehensive, individualized care in the comfort of their home or at our inpatient hospice facility in Durham, NC.

Occ Summary

Plan and provide professional nursing care for pa tients in accordancewith physician orders and established policies and p rocedures.


Work Performed

Plan and provide profession al nursing care for patients in accordancewith physician orders and esta blished policies and procedures to includecollecting and analyzing patie nt data, developing and implementingnursing care plans, establishing int erpersonal relationships withpatients, evaluating nursing care given and communicating to properpersonnel relevant facts about patients, action taken and patientresponses.Assist other nursing personnel in the deliver y of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of p atients or an entire unitas assigned.Provide direction and guidance in t he proper use, care and control ofmaterial resources; appraise quality a nd effectiveness of material andequipment and report results to head nur se; maintain standards ofcleanliness in assigned areas. Observe activiti es of nursing staff andmake recommendations to nursing management for im provement in thequality and effectiveness of nursing care given.Assist i n the development and implementation of general policies andprocedures d esigned to effect efficiency of operations.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education

Work requires gradua tion from an accredited BSN program.Exception: Registered nurses hired b etween July 1, 2014 and April 11,2021without a Bachelor's degree in Nur sing (or higher) are encouragedto enroll in an appropriate BSN program w ithin two years of their startdate but must complete the program within five years of their startdate. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 20 14 are not required toenroll in a BSN program to remain in this job clas sification.


Experience

Twelve months of appropriate c linical experience is required. At amanager's discretion, employees wit h 6 months of experience who areexceptional performers may be eligible f or this level.CN Is are eligible for promotion to CN II by meeting crite ria set forthby the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 month s of hire.Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 1 8 monthsof hire.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of NorthCarolina. BLS required.
