Clinical Nurse – MRI/CT Radiology

Department Profile
The Radiology Nurse will work at Cary Parkway CT and MRI. Enjoy flexible scheduling and working in a department that has received the highest Tier 1 work culture survey scores for several years running.
Applicants with previous acute care and/or radiology experience are highly preferred but we have proudly trained several cohorts of new RNs to be excellent radiology nurses.
Job Summary
As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients in guided by DUHS Professional Practice model participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and appropriateness of care for all assigned patients. Thoroughly explains the procedures to patients and allows time for questions and addresses concerns in a professional and kind manner. Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in our care.
- Perform patient prep for procedures in accordance with established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards and does not require assistance from peers.
- Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care.
- Assist with IV placement, port access, and contrast administration. US IV training preferred. Proficient in POCT iSTAT procedures.
- Assist Radiologist in the care of patients experiencing contrast reactions, infiltration, and other critical care responses within a Radiology setting.
- Position will report to the Ambulatory Radiology Manager and Assistant Nurse manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required
- Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
- Minimum of 6 months experience.
- Radiology or Acute Care Nursing Experience.
- All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required
- Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required.
- BLS (or higher) certification required.
- Professional specialty certification (preferred).
