The Microbiome Core Facility, administered by the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, provides a centralized resource to support and enhance Microbiome research at Duke. The core facility is part of a diverse and vibrant community of microbiome researchers at Duke investigating the role of microbial systems in varied contexts, including human health, food production and the environment.

 

Currently the Facility is seeking a Research Technician II to assist with the processing of Microbiome samples for DNA extraction and library preparation for next generation sequencing. The technician will also have the opportunity to assist in developing and testing new microbiome techniques and participate in bioinformatic analysis of microbiome data. This position will also assist with Nanostring gene expression and GeoMx spatial profiling experiments as needed.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated. Knowledge of relevant techniques and/or background in microbiome research is desirable but willingness and ability to learn is essential.


Position will be for approximately one year with extensions contingent upon funding, performance, and needs of the Duke Microbiome Core Facility.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

 

Experience

None required above education/training requirement. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
