We are looking for a research technician to help manage the lab and carry out experiments that focus on the process of cell signaling.

We study the function and regulation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the primary sensors for all stimuli released and/or detected by the cell. In fact, GPCRs control every essential process in our bodies (from sight and sense of smell to our cognitive function, breathing, heart rate, etc.) and are also targets of half of all FDA-approved drugs currently on the market. Therefore, the candidate’s work and discoveries will be of direct pharmacological and physiological relevance. In addition, the candidate will gain experience in cutting-edge genomic (population and single-cell RNAseq, CRISPR editing and CRISPR screening) and advanced microscopy techniques (fixed- and live-cell microscopy, biosensors for active receptors and signaling outputs).

We are looking for a motivated candidate with excellent organizational and communication skills, who has demonstrated ability to work independently. The successful applicant must be willing and eager to work closely with the PI and lab members. We are particularly interested in candidates who are looking for additional experience in a biomedical research laboratory before pursuing graduate education or a career in biotechnology. Some previous hand-on laboratory experience is required.

The position involves a balance of responsibilities, with roughly 40% dedicated to lab management and 60% to research activities. Lab-related job responsibilities will include: help managing the lab, ordering and unpacking of equipment and supplies, record-keeping related to supply orders, organization and maintenance of laboratory, orientation for new lab members. Project-related responsibilities will include: perform and analyze experiments under direction of PI or other lab members and carry out independent experiments addressing the trafficking and signaling of GPCRs using cell culture models.
