Position Summary

 

This highly skilled and motivated individual will join a growing research team focused on studying the immune system's responses to cancer—with a special emphasis on developing immune-based therapies directed against cancer.

 

 

Specific skills preferred

 

Molecular biology/biochemical analytic skills

  • quantitative (real time) PCR
  • immunoblotting (western)

 

Cellular analysis skills

  • Multi-parameter flow cytometry (surface and intracellular analysis; cytometric bead array)
  • light microscopy

 

Tissue culture skills

  • culture of mouse and human cells

 

Animal skills

  • handling, breeding and maintaining mice in an established colony -- this includes skills in animal husbandry; animal identification and tracking (ear punch); and using various techniques to genotype mice
  • harvesting bone marrow and spleens from mice (for cell culture)
  • irradiation of mice
  • injection of mice (IV, retro-orbital, intraperitoneal) with cellular materials and/or various compounds
  • tumor implantation at various sites and tumor monitoring

 

Laboratory tasks

 

  • Ordering, inventory, writing of standard operating procedures and supporting other lab personnel

 

Education

 

 

Work generally requires a bachelor' s degree in botany, biology, zoology,psychology or other directly relate d scientific field.

 

Experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 18.69 to USD $28.28.
