Work Performed

Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biological data collection, bioinformatics and image data analyses, and/or other research laboratory experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes;

 

May include more complex tasks, related to job level and specific to the focus of the lab, including but not limited to:

· Compiling, analyzing, and documenting procedures and results and drawing tentative conclusions from genomic results.

· Conferring with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research designs;

· Making minor modifications to existing laboratory techniques to meet the needs of the particular data collection and analyses as required.

· Reviewing laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments and data analyses.

· Knowledge for use and maintenance of laboratory computing environments on high-performance computing servers and databases.

· Monitor and train lower level and new personnel.

· Presentation and publication preparation

· Database maintenance

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

· Work generally requires a bachelor’s degree in biology, engineering, bioinformatics, or other directly related scientific field in a quantitative discipline.

 

Experience:

· None required above education/training requirements

· Preferred experience in computational biology, image analyses, programming skills in Python or R, and bioinformatics.

· Preferred interest in computational biology, machine learning, bioinformatics, cancer genomics, single-cell multi-omics, spatial transcriptomics, human genetics, and immunology

 

 

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.69 to USD $28.28.
