A research technician position exploring the molecular and cellular pathogenesis of retinal diseases and testing potential therapies is available in the laboratory of Dr. Goldis Malek at the Albert Eye Research Institute at Duke University in Durham, NC. 

 

Specific Job Responsibilities - The technician will have the opportunity to perform a variety of complex technical duties using resources available in the lab including cell and molecular biology techniques, cell culture, adeno-viral work, and histology, among others. They will be responsible for maintaining the animal colony, assisting with animal protocols, and experiments. An ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and record keeping, good manual dexterity, an appreciation for general and laboratory safety, have the ability to communicate, interact and work well as a team member on studies and projects as assigned, and also individually.

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

 

Experience

 

None required above education/training requirement. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
