Position Summary:
The Staff Research Scientist will play a key role in supporting the translational research mission of the Department of Neurosurgery and the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center (PRTBTC). This position will contribute critical scientific leadership to ongoing research efforts, with a focus on glioma modeling, therapeutic target discovery, and preclinical and clinical investigations while supporting grant development, team management, and collaborative initiatives across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage research projects aligned with the strategic objectives of the Ashley Lab and the PRTBTC, with a particular focus on genetically engineered mouse models of glioma, translational target discovery, and immune modulation.
· Contribute and participate in experimental design and execution.
· Develop and prepare grant applications to secure external funding from federal and private sources; collaborate on multi-investigator proposals.
· Supervise and train laboratory personnel, including junior scientists, graduate students, and technical staff, to ensure high-quality and reproducible research practices.
· Oversee experimental design, data generation, and analysis related to key lab initiatives, ensuring alignment with funded project goals.
· Prepare scientific manuscripts and contribute to data presentation for conferences, publications, and grant progress reports.
· Collaborate with internal and external investigators to advance shared research goals and promote interdisciplinary integration across research units.
· Maintain project timelines and ensure compliance with institutional, funding agency, and ethical guidelines.
· Provide regular updates to the Director of the Brain Tumor Center regarding project progress, research priorities, and strategic planning initiatives.
