The Bagnat lab in the Department of Cell Biology, School of Medicine, at Duke University is looking for a Research Scholar. In this role, you'll develop theoretical models of cell and tissue physiology in collaboration with experimental researchers.

Daily, you'll engage directly with lab members that perform in vivo experiments in zebrafish and work with raw microscopy data.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of a Ph.D. in computational biology, biophysics, or related field
  • Direct experience in mathematical modeling of biological processes
  • Highly collaborative attitude and demonstrated success in engaging with collaborators
  • Ability to set clear goals and communicate proactively and clearly with lab members
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing work efficiently and by designated deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with physical chemistry
  • Experience in coding

Other Requirements:

  • This position is hybrid eligible. The position is partially remote, and the employee must reside in a Duke University-approved state. However, full in-person work is strongly preferable.

  • Interact with experimental researchers to develop and optimize theoretical models.
  • Participate im data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Participate in lab meetings and department seminars.
