Position Description:

The Graves laboratory within the Department of Pediatrics is a translational research lab focused on the biology of drug resistance and progression in osteosarcoma. We are seeking an experienced research analyst to take a leadership role within the lab on projects utilizing pre-clinical models (including patient-derived organoids, pulmonary metastasis assays, and in vivo mouse xenografts) in the study of chemotherapy-resistant osteosarcoma

The Research Associate, Sr. will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Laurie Graves and will be expected to carry out research related to actively and prospectively funded projects, including collaborating with other laboratory researchers, clinical research team members, bioinformaticians, and biostatisticians. The candidate will need to independently develop experiments, analyze and interpret data, and document all research activities and data for subsequent use in publications and grant applications.

This position will be supported for two years with the potential for extension based on funding.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with mammalian cell culture, patient-derived models (organoids, cell lines) and mouse models of cancer (xenografts)

• Experience performing western blotting, RNA/DNA extractions, qRT-PCR, and genomics-based analysis of cancer cell lines, including gene expression profiling and next-generation sequencing

• Familiarity with bioinformatic and biostatistical approaches for the analysis of sequencing and proteomic data

• Desire to conduct team-based science in close collaboration with clinicians, statisticians, and regulators

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with outstanding organizational and analytical abilities

Min Degree Requirements:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).
