Duke University is seeking a Project Planner I to support research initiatives coordinated through the Research Project Management Core. In this role, you’ll apply project management knowledge, tools, and interpersonal skills to help move small‑ to medium‑sized non‑clinical research projects forward—from planning through execution.
You’ll work closely with research teams, functional managers, and stakeholders to coordinate meetings, manage timelines, support proposal development, and keep projects organized and on track. Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience in project management with increasing scope and independence, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or coursework in project management
- Knowledge of research best practices
- Familiarity with Duke’s research infrastructure and resources

Position Description (Essential Duties)
- Apply standard project management processes, tools, and methodologies to support non‑clinical research projects
- Plan, lead, and facilitate project team meetings
- Manage and support events such as symposia, conferences, and seminars
- Develop and implement project communication plans
- Create detailed task lists and standard operating procedures
- Coordinate logistical aspects of proposal development
- Assist with project initiation and protocol management activities
- Work with functional managers to resolve scheduling and resource conflicts, escalating issues as appropriate

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $61,698.00 to USD $100,480.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
