OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

 

Plan, coordinate and administer activities of the Nurse-LEADS program, a training program for pre- and postdoctoral nurses focused on social determinants of health and health equity. With program leadership and trainees, develop and implement standard procedures, training, and facilitation of communication with key stakeholders.

 

Plan, coordinate and administer activities of SER Familia, a community engaged trial of a community health worker intervention for Latino immigrant families. Develop and implement standard procedures, training, and facilitation of communication with key stakeholders.

 

WORK PERFORMED

 

  • Manage and coordinate meetings, convenings, and seminars for faculty, investigators, trainees, and partners, including the annual Center for Nursing Research conference.
  • Organize annual recruitment and review of applications of Nurse-LEADS pre- and post-doctoral scholars.
  • Manage and coordinate research mentoring initiatives.
  • Partner with El Centro Hispano to organize recruitment and engagement strategies for SER Familia.
  • Manage marketing and materials related to Nurse-LEADS and SER Familia including e-mails, website, phone calls, and other relevant communications.
  • Scientific & Educational Community Engagement: The hired candidate will serve as a representative for Nurse-LEADS and SER Familia in academic and community settings. They may also participate in committees or workgroups to disseminate outcomes.
  • Business development and stakeholder relationship management: Participate in meetings. Travel, as needed, to attend meetings or provide oversight and assistance for off-site projects e.g. continuing education programs or expert meetings between academic partners (i.e. University of Texas at El Paso, North Carolina Central University, etc.) and community partners (i.e., El Centro Hispano)
  • Manage administration of Nurse-LEADS program and SER Familia grants and seed funding programs, including calls for proposals, application review processes, and award management, including progress reports and stewardship reports to stakeholders.
  • Assist in research administration tasks, including preparing data and research materials for presentations and communications, and tracking metrics including evaluations using various databases at NIH, granting agencies, the Duke IRB, DUSON, REDCap, Qualtrics, Excel, etc.
  • Develop detailed budgets and schedules based on task breakdown, materials and information and resource allocation plans.
  • Maintain project folders observing needed security and ensure required project data and information is regularly entered into the project workbook and the project management and knowledge management systems.
  • Generate and issue regular internal and external project reports for Nurse-LEADS and SER Familia. Assist with the collection of clear, consistent, standard data the Nurse-LEADS and SER Familia portfolio to support evaluation and
  • Act as liaison between all parties concerned to address proposed modifications to project scope, schedule, or budget and influence to minimize changes. Work with project team members and principal investigators to resolve schedule and resource conflicts. Escalate difficult project issues as appropriate.
  • Arrange and maintain relevant relationships, maintain records of expenses and track milestones and/or percent complete for contracted work, and inform accounting as these levels are attained so invoices can be sent to sponsors and payments to contractors can be approved in a timely manner.

 

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES

 

Education/Training

        

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Additional training in Project Management, Grant management, or related training is desired.

 

Spanish speaking requirement for this role.

 

Experience

        

Work requires a minimum of two years of experience in program administration involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with experience working in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Education

 

Work requires communication and analytical skills normally acquired through a 4 year college education.

 

Experience

 

 

Work requires a general knowledge of research methods, procedures and experience. activities normally acquired through 1 year of social science research.
