The Duke Cancer Institute's Duke Prostate and Urologic Cancer Center (DPUC) is seeking a highly organized and analytical Program Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will help drive the operational success and strategic growth of one of Duke's leading cancer programs by coordinating data analytics, fundraising support, executive communications, and program operations.

 

You will work closely with DPUC Co-Leaders, the Director Core, development professionals, faculty, researchers, and institutional partners to ensure program goals are achieved. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining project coordination, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning to support innovative cancer research, clinical programs, and community impact initiatives.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
  • One year of experience in program administration, program coordination, academic support, healthcare administration, fundraising support, communications, event planning, or related activities.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze information, prepare reports, and communicate findings effectively.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing, communications, event planning, fundraising, development, or program coordination.
  • Experience working in an oncology, healthcare, academic medical center, higher education, or research environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data extraction, analysis, visualization, and reporting.
  • Experience creating dashboards, scorecards, metrics, and performance reports.
  • Proficiency developing executive-level presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends and support strategic decision-making.
  • Experience supporting donor engagement, sponsorship efforts, fundraising campaigns, or development activities.
  • Knowledge of community engagement principles, health equity initiatives, and grant compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • Occasional attendance at meetings, special events, fundraising activities, conferences, or retreats may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Coordinate Data Analytics, Reporting, and Strategic Insights

  • Collect, analyze, validate, and interpret program data from multiple sources to support operational planning, strategic initiatives, and program evaluation.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, reports, and key performance indicators that monitor program performance and outcomes.
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative analyses for program leadership, stakeholders, funding organizations, and institutional partners.
  • Present findings through data visualization tools and executive-ready reports that support informed decision-making.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and process improvement initiatives using data-driven recommendations while ensuring accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of information.

 

Support Fundraising and Development Activities

  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives, donor engagement efforts, sponsorship opportunities, and special events that advance the mission of the Duke Prostate and Urologic Cancer Center.
  • Assist with development of funding proposals, grant submissions, donor stewardship reports, and fundraising communications.
  • Maintain fundraising and donor tracking systems, monitor performance metrics, and prepare reports evaluating outcomes and return on investment.
  • Partner with development professionals and program leadership to identify funding opportunities and support donor cultivation strategies.

 

Develop Executive Presentations and Strategic Communications

  • Create professional presentations, briefing documents, reports, infographics, and communication materials for executive leadership, advisory groups, donors, and external stakeholders.
  • Translate complex program, operational, and financial information into concise, visually compelling, and audience-appropriate presentations.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across program communications and materials.
  • Support leadership preparation for strategic discussions, board meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.

 

Coordinate Meetings and Program Operations

  • Organize and facilitate program meetings, advisory council meetings, committee meetings, leadership retreats, stakeholder gatherings, and special events.
  • Develop agendas, prepare meeting materials, document action items, and track follow-up activities.
  • Maintain project plans, timelines, work plans, and program documentation to support achievement of organizational goals.
  • Serve as a liaison among faculty, staff, institutional departments, development partners, and external organizations to facilitate communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables across multiple concurrent initiatives.

 

Support Strategic Planning and Center Initiatives

  • Collaborate with DPUC leadership, the Director Core, and partner programs to align activities with organizational priorities.
  • Assist in implementing strategic plans, evaluating program effectiveness, and monitoring progress toward established goals.
  • Support the coordination of special projects that advance clinical, research, educational, and community engagement objectives across the Center.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $45,661.00 to USD $73,140.00.
