Occupational Summary

The Program Coordinator for the Black Pastoral Leadership Initiative will report to the Faculty Director of the Office of Black Church Studies (OBCS). Coordinating convening for scholars and practitioners, scheduling meetings and managing publications, this position requires exceptional interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. The project coordinator will ensure high quality and efficiency executing research, convening and training projects and will supervise the staff assistants, student workers and interns, and volunteers. This position will end on December 31, 2024.

 

Work Performed

  • Assist the Faculty Director of the Office of Black Church Studies/Project Director for the Black Pastoral Leadership Initiative in implementing successfully the research, training and convening aspects of the Initiative.

  • Ensure logistical planning, coordination and execution of scholarly research gatherings, including transportation, meeting and hospitality.

  • Provide logistical planning, coordination and execution of pastoral training gatherings, including transportation, meeting and hospitality.

  • Arrange logistical planning, coordination and execution of practitioner gatherings, including presentation preparation, videography, transportation, meeting and hospitality.

  • Coordinate electronic/newsletter publication preparation, scheduling and dissemination.

  • Provide timely and accurate budget monitoring, management and reporting.

  • Supervise staff assistant(s), student workers and volunteers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education/Training

Work require analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program.

 

Experience

Work reqires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional, or counseling activities to acquire skills necesary to plan coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATON AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

 

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Master of Divinity degree

  • Experience in and knowledge of Black Church Contexts

  • Competence for managing graduate students.

  • Temperament for working with multidisciplinary scholar teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
