Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Power Electronics
We seek a highly-motivated individual to conduct research on modular multilevel power electronic circuits and electromagnet coils with high output fidelity. Such advanced circuits can enable various applications including novel biomedical devices for research and therapy using noninvasive brain stimulation, which is the focus of this position. These applications call for the use of latest wide-bandgap semiconductor devices combined with innovative circuit topologies, control, and coils to achieve high-power high-bandwidth operation. This research project offers opportunities for significant contributions in both power electronics and biomedical engineering.
This project is led by Dr. Angel Peterchev at Duke, and involves several labs at other institutions. The project provides unique opportunities to gather experience in biomedical applications that are typically not well known in conventional power electronics. The strong interdisciplinary and collaborative environment at Duke is ideal for translational research.
An earned PhD and previous experience in power electronics with skills in circuit design, PCB layout, and experimental work is required as are good communication skills. Previous experience with wide-bandgap semiconductors, modular multilevel converters, inductive load drivers, wireless power transfer, electromagnet coils, and/or magnetic field generation is advantageous but not required.
This is a full-time position with University Benefits and provides outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary research and career development. Duke University is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer.
