The Department of Radiology is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. In this role, you will lead independent & collaborative research in line with the priorities and goals of the laboratory of Dr. Micheal Zalutsky. The laboratory’s research focuses on the development of novel radioactive compounds for improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in radiochemistry, with an emphasis on the design and synthesis of site-specifically radiohalogenated biomolecules for imaging and therapeutic applications.
Our laboratory provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art radiochemistry facilities and imaging infrastructure. The position offers opportunities to contribute to translational research that bridges fundamental chemistry and clinical applications in oncology.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency.
- Note for international candidates: Generally, immigration classifications (e.g., H-1B, J-1, etc.) require that the requisite degree be conferred before a petition can be filed or a visa document issued to sponsor the individual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in organic synthesis of radiohalogenation precursors
- Experience in handling radioactivity
- Experience in performing radiochemical synthesis with iodine radionuclides and astatine-211.

- Onsite. The work is performed on-site or at a designated assignment location.

- Open and timely discussion with the mentor regarding all facets of the Postdoctoral Appointee's research activities. Postdoctoral Appointees are encouraged to consult the AAMC Compact Between Postdoctoral Appointees and Their Mentors for suggested guidelines for the Postdoctoral Appointee-mentor relationship
- Prompt disclosure to the mentor regarding the possession and desire to distribute materials, reagents, software, copyrightable and potentially patentable discoveries derived from the Postdoctoral Appointee's research.
- Collegial conduct towards members of the research group and others as described in the Duke University School of Medicine Honor Code of Professional Conduct and other relevant conduct policies pertaining to other schools at Duke University.
