Pharmacy Technician II – Pharmacy Storeroom and Packaging

 

Position Summary:
This individual performs unit dose packaging, ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution duties to support the Department of Pharmacy’s mission of ensuring safe medication use and maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet the hospital’s medication needs. This is primarily a second-shift position with potential weekend rotation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate unit dose packaging technology to repackage bulk medications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Utilize Omnicell WorkflowRx software and carousel hardware effectively.
  • Execute supplemental pharmaceutical and supply orders accurately.
  • Fill and deliver departmental and interdepartmental requisitions.
  • Identify appropriate storage conditions for pharmaceuticals per manufacturer labeling.
  • Comply with OSHA, NIOSH, and USP <797> regulations for safe handling of hazardous medications.
  • Provide exemplary customer service.
  • Follow first-in, first-out (FIFO) methodology for inventory distribution.
  • Collaborate with team members to exceed customer expectations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program. or Acceptance into pharmacy school. or a High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care-related experience.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of related experience.

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration is required. Pharmacy Technician certification is required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
