Occ Summary
Patient Service Associate - Coordinate and participate i n avariety of duties associated withdaily clinic preparation process, pa tientidentification, patient checkin/out, charge posting, cashmanagement andpatient appointmentscheduling. Position also involves customer servi ce,messagedistribution, ancillary scheduling and preparationand referral smanagement.
Work Performed
Prepare forclinic visitsby reviewing next day patients andcompleting next day preparation activ ities. Enterpre-visit orders andpreparenew patient charts. Pick up X-ray s,office charts, medicalrecords, reports, petty cash and collections bag .File history sheets,ancillary reports and all other required patient re cord documentation.Return medical records. Attach HIPPA/Medicare documen tsto theencounter forms.Check-in patient upon arrivalin the practice.Ide ntify correct patientinformation in Maestro Care.Verify patient demographic data. EditMaestro Care as needed. Accuratelyidentify the appropriate accountfor patient visit. Present and educate patients on required forms andobtain signature as required by policy andprocedure. Completes allMae stro Care check-in files and manageall appropriate alerts. Collectandpo st co-payments and balances on accounts due.Imprint all patientspecific chart documents and requisition/transmittaldocuments. Copy,file and dist ribute insurance cards as indicated by procedure.Coordinate all labs/procedures as requested. Maintain private physicianoffice charts.Prepareenc ounter forms. Investigate and account formissing encounterforms.Auditenc ounter forms for completeness and accuracy beforebatching. Batches encou nter forms or charge posting in Maestro Care.Schedule tests andprocedure s. Complete and distributeancillary service requisitions.Explain billing to patientsaccording to PRMO creditand collection policies. Determine t he amountof cash to be collected based on insurance plan.Check-outpatients. Make return appointments by scheduling patients into thecorrectan an d scheduling tests and procedures.Answer telephone, take anddeliverappoi ntment type, entering the primary care physician orreferringphysicimessa ges tophysicians, nurses andothers.Report obtained medical information from patients and referringphysicians accurately, completely and timely. Disseminate messagesaccordingto practice communication standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication. Basic PC and data entryskills. Knowledge of medicaltermin ology and telephone etiquette.Demonstrated ability to organize and prior itize work, provide oral andwritten instructions, interact tactfully wit h customers and establishandmaintain effective relationships withothers. Must be able to applyspecific departmental policies rules and regulatio ns relating toverifying patient information, collectingpaymentsand maint ainingrecords and forms.
