Occupational Summary:

The Prospect Management and Research Analyst plays a proactive role in the identification of potential prospects for Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs (DHDAA) and is responsible for helping to manage prospect management operations. As part of an integrated Prospect Management team that encompasses business intelligence, reporting, and prospect research, this individual will build collaborative partnerships with colleagues across DHDAA and University Development, and support important initiatives related to campaign planning and the integration of a data-driven approach to fundraising. The Prospect Management and Research Analyst will have career development opportunities and will be a sponsored member of professional organizations, including the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.

 

Work Performed: 

 

Prospect Identification and Research – 40%

  • Facilitate the identification of grateful patient/alumni prospects and dissemination of information pertinent to fundraising partners. Follow-up as needed, track progress, identify efficiencies, and benchmark with peers.
  • Leverage Salesforce and Duke Alumni and Development Database (DADD) reporting tools to create innovative methods to identify new prospects for Duke Health. Determine gift capacity ratings by gathering, interpreting, and analyzing biographical and financial data on current and potential donors.
  • Create and monitor a comprehensive news alert process for Duke Health alumni, prospects, deceased prospects, and potential donors.
  • Facilitate ad-hoc vendor wealth screenings.

 

Prospect Management – 40%

  • Maintain and update documentation related to DHDAA-specific prospect management policies. Collaborate with University Office of Prospect Management colleagues to help define best practices related to the team-based prospect management approach and shared DADD database.
  • Assist in the preparation for and follow-up from regular portfolio maintenance and optimization meetings. Participate in onboardings/trainings for new staff and help facilitate the departing officer process.
  • Communicate with fundraising teams to collect feedback on internal prospect management tools in Smartsheet and Tableau to facilitate enhancements/improvements.
  • Record minutes and recommendations from the Prospect Management Working Group and communicate with Stakeholders. Track progress and report on outcomes.
  • Participate in relevant working groups, including the Moves and Solicitations Experts Group, Prospect Management Committee, and Prospect Management Coordinating Group.
  • Manage an Inbox as the primary responder to common questions and delegate follow-up as needed.

 

Data Integrity – 20%

  • Ensure that current and accurate biographical information is recorded in DADD and Salesforce and coordinate with University colleagues to update records as needed.
  • Identify and prioritize DHDAA prospect data clean-up and maintenance efforts across departments. Link solicitations to incoming gifts and serve as a partner in Smartsheet bulk move efforts throughout DHDAA. Coordinate with the University Office of Prospect Management on comprehensive prospect data initiatives.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding the use, storage, and dissemination of patient data and monitor CRMs for compliance.

Desired Skills

 

  • Familiarity with development, prospect research, and/or prospect management
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail and timeliness
  • Proficiency in working with relational databases (with a preference for fundraising databases) and reporting tools
  • Experience with Excel and/or Smartsheet and Tableau
  • Ability to think analytically and use a solutions-orientated approach to solve complex problems
  • Ability to be client-service focused and build collaborative relationships with multiple constituencies
  • Experience with conducting research and distilling pertinent information
  • Ability to work in a highly interactive and collaborative office environment, and interface with colleagues on a regular basis

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires the skills and knowledge normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

 

Experience

 

Work generally requires one year of experience in development research or a related field. Work experience in research methodology strongly preferred. OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
