Program Coordinator

 

SUMMARY

 

The Duke Office of Duke Kunshan University (DKU) Relations (DODR) serves as central hub for Duke-DKU strategy, programming and administration as it relates to the Duke-DKU partnership. The Program Coordinator works as part of a team to develop and oversee day to day academic support, services, programs, and activities for DKU undergraduates who study at Duke. The Program Coordinator has responsibilities in additional areas including communications, student group advising, enrollment management, and implementation of additional Duke-DKU programs. The position reports to the Director of DKU Student Engagement and works in collaboration with the Student Services Coordinator and other members of the team.

 

 

 

WORK PERFORMED

 

Program Administration (45%)

  • Assist in developing and implementing program strategy to foster academic success, enhance the student experience at Duke, and build community both within the DKU cohort and among DKU and Duke undergraduate students. 
  • Collaborate to design and oversee implementation of campus-wide and cohort-specific programs and events, including hybrid orientation delivered each term (fall, spring and summer), student conferences, and other events.
  • Help plan and lead spring/fall break programs and activities that contribute to student development and cultural immersion.
  • Coordinate with Duke units regarding services, policies, and activities of DKU students at Duke.
  • Develop and maintain program guidelines, timelines, confidential student records, budgets and calendars.
  • Support program evaluation and assessment efforts. Develop surveys, assist with data collection and analysis.
  • Support application and enrollment management processes as needed.
  • Supervise work of student assistant(s).
  • Coordinate meeting and event logistics including space, catering, marketing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Student Advising and Support (45%)

  • Serve as academic advisor to DKU students at Duke. Hold regular office hours throughout the semester to provide individual or group advising regarding academic course planning, Duke-DKU course transfers, relevant academic, campus life, and support resources.
  • Identify opportunities, organize trainings and build resources to promote academic success, co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement.
  • Coordinate with units across campus on student services and support. Work to resolve student concerns in a timely manner.
  • Co- advise student group focused on Duke-DKU collaborations and peer support. Develop leadership and training opportunities, assist group leaders in setting agenda, budgeting, designing and implementing activities.

 

Communications (10%)

 

  • Create and deliver in-person and virtual presentations. Conduct outreach to enhance understanding of the DKU study at Duke program on the Duke campus and at DKU.
  • Organize and maintain student-facing websites, FAQs, and other program materials. Develop web content for multiple program stakeholders.
  • Collaborate to manage weekly program newsletter, including planning and developing content, maintaining distribution lists, and overseeing publication.
  • Respond to general program inquiries.

  • Ability to succeed in a cross-cultural setting, working with multiple stakeholders and a diverse student body.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Experience advising college students with regards to personal and academic goals, academic progress, and utilization of resources is highly preferred.
  • Experience organizing or facilitating events aimed toward student success and engagement, or relevant background in student affairs, study abroad, or international student services.
  • Competence working with data and maintaining information confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Some weekend and evening work is expected for this position.
  • Knowledge of student and learning management systems, survey tools, website platforms, and social media will be valuable.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

 

Experience

 

Work requires three years of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.  OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
