Project located in Eastern North Carolina. Applicants should reside in Eastern NC. Staff may work remotely and must be willing to travel extensively in Eastern North Carolina within seven counties including: Craven, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, and Pitt. Valid NC driver’s license required. Some overnight travel required as well.

 

Occupational Summary

 

Program Coordinator- Community Engagement and Education Coordinator- Eastern North Carolina Health Equity for Adolescent Lives (ENC-HEAL). Overall project goals are to: Improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development and advance health equity for adolescents, their families and communities through the replication of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs (EBPs) and services.

 

Plan, coordinate, and administer ENC-HEAL activities within Eastern North Carolina. Responsible for community relationships and outreach, mobilization, and dissemination of the ENC-HEAL program to high schools, middle schools, community-based, community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders throughout communities outlined in the project.

 

Applicants must be comfortable and enjoy engaging with youth in multiple settings including: juvenile detention, foster care, community-based programs and school-based programs. Applicants should have a commitment to medically accurate, age appropriate, trauma informed and inclusive sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents.

 

Work Performed

 

Assist in operational and programmatic activities with ENC-HEAL team specifically assist with coordination and participate in educational and youth empowerment activities to meet the projected needs for 5-year grant project.

 

Plan, coordinate, and administer activities of assigned programs to include developing and implementing procedures, processes, services and systems. Oversee communication efforts with all ENC-HEAL sites including, but not limited to, setting up meetings with administration and educators for introduction of the program, assisting the educator if any issues arise at the sites, engaging administration throughout the program, updating administration on program success.

 

Co-chair and attend all meetings of the regional Community Advisory Council (CAC) for ENC-HEAL alongside ENC-HEAL leadership. This includes sustaining relationships with CAC members, assisting planning and coordinating CAC trainings and meetings, and providing Evidence-Based Program curricula for CAC and community review.

 

Budget for, and coordinate, public events and other related programs; develop and coordinate new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components, including plan and host meetings, resource fairs, education seminars, and an annual conference to mobilize the ENC-HEAL program and disseminate program information in program service area.

 

Coordinate and assist with the development of public relations activities between ENC-HEAL and community members to include conceptualizing and writing newsletters, promotional materials, publications, press releases, PSAs, ads and fliers. Develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials.

 

Develop content and manage project social media pages through approved platforms as well as Duke Teen Health Club website as a method of community and participant engagement, submitting social media content drafts for approval to Project Coordinator and Project Director. Develop plans and schedules for release of publicity social media posts.

 

Maintain liaison with other programs, offices and departments at Duke to coordinate program business and to accomplish program objectives; interface with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.

 

Monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds as appropriate focusing on event expenditures, participant payments, and incentives.

 

Assist with planning and coordinating program events, trainings, webinars, etc. including being trained as a backup trainer on various sexual and reproductive health education activities through evidence-based programs (EBP) to prevent teen pregnancy in Eastern North Carolina, as well as additional positive youth development, mindfulness, and mental health modules.

 

Assist in the implementation of on-going evaluations of education programs and activities.

 

Assist in the design and preparation of sexual and reproductive health education materials and programs.

 

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education/Training

           

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

         

 

Experience:

 

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.

 

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATIONAND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

 

 

Skills:

 

Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and capability to learn new data management programs.

 

Strong instructional and training skills preferred.
