The Department of Cell Biology is seeking a Postdoctoral scholar position to join a project in the lab of Nicole Scott-Hewitt.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • PhD in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in experimental design and quantitative data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety and best practices, and familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and software

Principal responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Designing and performing experiments successfully and collecting and analyzing data related to your research project in the Scott-Hewitt Laboratory.
  • Keeping proper records of your experiments and resulting data in a way that is in line with the provided Scott-Hewitt Lab and Duke University standard operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Presenting your data in lab meetings and departmental seminars in an organized, logical manner
  • Demonstrating commitment to training and career advancement
  • Demonstrating intellectual leadership and commitment to your research project(s) in the lab.
  • Demonstrating significant intellectual contribution to other scientific projects within the lab as well as your own.
  • Contributing to the training and advancement of graduate students and other lab personnel
  • Writing fellowship applications as appropriate for the development of your career

This will be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience. The position is located at the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC.
