The Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) provides national and international leadership in the fight against major infectious diseases. We are a large interdisciplinary organization with a goal to develop vaccines and therapeutics for HIV, influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and other emerging infections. DHVI is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join our team in developing vaccines for HIV and beta-coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV-2. 

 

The Duke Human Vaccine Institute is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental institute dedicated to the study of host-pathogen interactions that can be translated into biologics and vaccines. DHVI is composed of a team of highly interactive investigators that have expertise in mucosal and systemic immunology, virology, molecular and structural biology, computational biology, and animal medicine. With these expertises, the DHVI is working collaboratively to develop vaccines and countermeasures against pathogens like HIV, SARS-CoV-2, and influenza.

 

Minimum Requirements:

The position requires a PhD in biological sciences, chemistry, or a related discipline and a strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

Position Description:

  • HLA-E-VL9 antibody in gnotobiotic mice
  • HLA-EVL9 antibody biology in PLWH or SHIV infected monkeys
  • Other experiments submitted in your K99 grant
  • Analysis of new HLA-E-VL9 antibodies from the Azoitei Lab
  • Select studies as the budget allows of studies of HLA-E-VL9 antibodies in cancer models (in vitro or animals)
  • Other studies on which you and Drs. Haynes and Azoitei agree

 

In addition, you will need to:

  • Present scientific results at meetings and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Training in bioethics, laboratory management, and scientific writing.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation of experiments, including raw experimental data and laboratory notebooks.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position based on the current NIH stipends.
