Postdoctoral Associate
Occupational Summary
We are seeking a full-time post-doctoral scientist to lead investigation into the molecular mechanisms regulating vascular growth and homeostasis. The candidate must have a PhD (or equivalent) degree with corresponding research experience in both wet lab bench-based cardiovascular biomedical research.
Work Performed
Key aspects of this job are to:
- Perform molecular cloning of key constructs or other reagents as needed
- Perform cell culture to develop and maintain endothelial and other cell lines to investigate relevant signaling mechanisms in vitro
- Operate specific equipment (e.g., nitric oxide analyzer) for the analysis of vascular cellular function and perform data analysis
- Work together with other lab members to develop and maintain cell lines derived from genetically modified mice
- Integrate key research findings with parallel research efforts of other members of the research team
- Perform bioinformatic data analysis on large datasets, including RNA sequencing and proteomics data sets
Other aspects of the job include:
- Establish and optimize work procedures and experimental protocols
- Evaluate and interpret collected data under the guidance of the principal investigator
- Help in the preparation of grant applications, manuscripts, reports, and oral presentations
- Contribute to the development of research projects through collaboration and reading of relevant literature
- Communicate with regulatory authorities and perform administrative tasks when necessary
Required Qualifications at this Level:
Education/Training
A PhD (or equivalent) degree
Experience
Corresponding research experience in wet lab, bench-based vascular biology research as well as bioinformatics experience
