This position for a new PhD will carry out translational studies involving G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in heart failure and cardiomyopathy. These will include investigating the role of GPCR kinase 2 and 5 (GRK2 and GRK5) with novel binding partners in human cardiac myocytes derived from pluripotent stem cells. These novel partners will include proteins known to be involved with human cardiomyopathy and recently found to interact with GRK5 via a proteomic screen. Involvement in these interactions in heart failure pathology will involve cell work and will transition to in vivo animal work in genetically engineered mouse models. Experiences with iPSC-derived myocytes and in vivo mouse studies a plus. Independent research projects and team work included in this lab environment.
