POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
Durham, NC, US, 27710
Description:
A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in Dr. Carolyn Coyne’s laboratory at Duke University in the Department of Integrative Immunobiology. We study the mechanisms by which pathogens cross cellular barriers, focusing on both the gastrointestinal tract and placenta. We utilize human primary cells, tissue and stem cell-derived organoids, and in vivo animal models to define the mechanisms by which viruses such as enteroviruses cross cellular barriers and disseminate to secondary sites. Available projects use a range of microbiology, cell biology, and immunology techniques and will also involve cutting-edge sequencing techniques and bioinformatics. Specific projects covered in this position include the defining the mechanisms by which enteroviruses infect the GI epithelium and are transmitted using in vivo mouse models.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree with research experience relevant to our lab interests, including expertise in virology and in vivo mouse models, and a desire to work independently within a collaborative team environment. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise using in vivo models of viral infections.
