POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE- Surgical Sciences (Dr. Crosby)

 

The Crosby lab at Duke University is seeking a highly motivated recent PhD graduate to join our team to take a leadership role on projects at the intersection of immunology and breast cancer development and treatment. This position requires a doctoral degree in biological sciences or a related field. The postdoctoral associate will be expected to carry out the research related to our active funding projects, including actively collaborating with other laboratory researchers, clinical research team members, bioinformaticians and biostatisticians.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Perform research activities under the direction of Dr. Crosby.

Maintain accurate laboratory documentation of experiments, including raw experimental data and laboratory notebooks.

Monitor progress of research projects and coordinate with Principal Investigator and Program team to stay on budget and schedule to meet the milestones and deliverables.

Follow standards of responsible conduct in research.

Comply with good scholarly and research practice.

Adhere to University standards regarding use of isotopes, chemicals, infectious agents, animals, human subjects, and the like.

Comply with all applicable University and Department of Surgery policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.)

  • PhD degree with a background in cancer immunology or related field
  • Familiarity with bioinformatic and biostatistical approaches for the analysis of single cell sequencing data
  • Experience with mouse models of cancer
  • A working knowledge in cellular immunological and molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry, fluorescence/confocal microscopy, and PCR is a plus
  • Desire to conduct team-based science in close collaboration with other researchers, clinicians, and statisticians
  • Willingness to apply for internal and external grant funding
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with outstanding organizational and analytical abilities
