Position description:
The Department of Population Health Sciences (DPHS) and Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) are seeking qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral Associate to work on their portfolio of industry, government, and foundation-funded real-world data (RWD) projects. The DCRI leverages sources such as electronic health records and administrative claims through a variety of means, including centralized repositories and distributed data networks like PCORnet® and the Cardio Health Alliance. Serving at the intersection of informatics, data science and evidence generation, the primary objectives of this position are to develop and evaluate methods for assessing thequality and fitness of RWD sources, as well as strategies for leveraging aspects of RWD for observational and comparative effectiveness research. The candidate will serve under the guidance of DPHS and DCRI faculty members and other senior scientists and will have the opportunity to lead and participate in a wide range of studies.
Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in Biostatistics, Data Science, Informatics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science or related fields
- Familiarity with real-world data source such as electronic health records and administrative claims
- Knowledge of methods for assessing the suitability of real-world data sets for observational and comparative effectiveness research
- Experience in programming languages such as SAS, R or Python
- Excellent written and communication skills
