Nurse Manager-Duke Children's at Creekstone

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Nurse Manager at Duke Children's at Creekstone to manage and coordinate patient care and personnel needs in a Duke Health Integrated Practice Clinic; plan, develop, implement and evaluate ambulatory health care services, programs and activities. The Nurse Manager is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on service- specific clinical issues. The Nurse Manager is generally a long-term role, requiring clinical and interpersonal skills. The NM collaborates with senior and additional clinic leadership on clinical and non-clinical issues (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.). The NM is the support for the clinic/practice when the Health Center Administrator is unavailable. The NM is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned core group of staff.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and management of various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling; and counsel and conduct formal discipline of their assigned group of clinical staff
  • Create and maintain employee personnel files.
  • Conduct individual employee rounding on all clinic staff. 
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all staff.
  • Analyze, develop and maintain an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum; achieving desired outcomes.
  • Promote education for patients, patient families and the community; participate in direct patient care activities as a targeted strategy for role modeling or information gathering.
  • Collaborate with nursing colleagues in ambulatory care to promote optimal utilization of nursing resources among various clinics.
  • Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitor equipment maintenance for their assigned core clinic specialties.
  • Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, JCAHO, etc.) Ensure Joint Commission, Infection Control, OESO, DUHS, PDC, NCBON, AAMA and AMT Guidelines and Regulations are met.
  • Collaborate with Health Center Administrator in determining the fiscal requirements; submit budgetary recommendations, including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials necessary for the provision of care.
  • Coordinate and ensure documentation of all required drills.
  • Cultivate exemplary customer service; promote effective communication skills to include, but not limited to problem solving, assertiveness, and support for team members, feedback, active listening and conflict resolution.
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement in their assigned core clinic specialties.
  • Develop, document, implement and monitor written policies and procedures reflective of the ambulatory health care site mission settlement and objectives.
  • Manage clinic in the absence of Health Care Administrator.  Be available on-call for emergencies involving the facility, staff members and patients.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Job Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Three years of nursing experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS certification required.
  • One year of leadership or management experience in the clinical setting preferred.

 

Job Schedule:

Hours are Day Shift, Monday through Friday with one Saturday per month scheduled 8a-12p
