Job Summary:
We are seeking a Nurse Manager at our Infusion Clinic located in Durham, NC to work in coordination with the HCA to ensure completion of clinical and nonclinical tasks. The Ambulatory Nurse Manager is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on infusion issues. This is generally a long-term role requiring clinical and interpersonal skills. The Nurse Manager is the support for the practice when the HCA is unavailable. This position is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned group of staff.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and create staff schedule among dual sites
- Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling; and counsel and conduct formal discipline of clinical staff.
- Collaborate on the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all staff. Ensure all requirements for staff training and education are current. Analyze, develop and maintain an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum, achieving desired outcomes.
- Promote education for patients, patient families and the community; participate in direct patient care activities as a targeted strategy for role modeling or information gathering
- Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate levels of equipment and supplies, and monitor equipment maintenance. Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, JCAHO, etc.
- Collaborate with the Health Center Administrator in determining the fiscal requirements of the specific clinic; submit budgetary recommendations, including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials necessary for the provision of care. Cultivate exemplary customer service throughout the organization; promote effective communication skills to include, but not limited to, problem solving, assertiveness, support for team members, feedback, active listening, and conflict resolution.
- Develop and implement processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
- Approves supply and linen orders, approves staff time and attendance, and assists with any other projects assigned by the HCA.
- Develop, document, implement, and monitor written policies and procedures reflective of the ambulatory health care sites mission, settlement, and objectives. Manage specific clinic in the absence of Health Care Administrator/Practice Manager; and be available on-call for emergencies involving the facility, staff members, and patients.
- Promote an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staff input into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and teamwork among all health team members.
- Work with HCA, Revenue Manager, Regional Director, and financial services to create monthly infusion medication costs vs. reimbursements.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
- Work requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
- Requires three years of nursing experience.
- Management experience in an ambulatory setting is preferred.
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position requires the Nurse Manager to be present onsite for 8 hour shifts during standard Monday-Friday day shift business hours.
