Nurse Manager, AC - Duke Primary Care Riverview
Duke Primary Care Riverview seeks to hire a NURSE MANAGER who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.
Duke Primary Care Riverview, located in Durham, provides comprehensive internal medicine and lab services with a team of 28 providers serving 240–300 patients daily. Specializing in internal medicine, cardiology, hospital follow-up care, and new patient access, the clinic offers annual exams, preventative care, chronic illness management, acute illness treatment, immunizations, and women's health services. Committed to personalized, patient-centered care, the clinic meets the diverse healthcare needs of its community.
Location: 5102 N Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27704
Schedule: 8am – 5pm Monday and Friday, 7am - 6pm Tuesday - Thursday
What you will do:
Clinical Operations Management
- Manage and coordinate patient care and personnel needs in a DUHS clinic.
- Work performed involves managing multi-specialty nursing services delivered within a specified clinic.
- Manage the clinic in the absence of the HealthCare Administrator/Practice Manager; be available on-call for emergencies involving the facility or staff.
- Develop and implement processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
- Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate levels of equipment and supplies, and monitor equipment maintenance.
- Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO).
- Develop, document, implement, and monitor written policies and procedures reflective of the ambulatory healthcare site’s mission and objectives.
- Perform other related duties incidental to clinic operations.
Strategic Planning & Program Development
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate ambulatory health care services, programs, and activities.
- Collaborate with the Health Center Administrator/Nurse Manager in determining fiscal requirements; submit budgetary recommendations including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials.
Personnel Management & Development
- Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions, and scheduling.
- Counsel and conduct formal discipline of clinical staff as needed.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation, and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all clinical staff.
- Collaborate with nursing colleagues in ambulatory care to promote optimal utilization of nursing resources among various clinics.
Patient & Family-Centered Care
- Analyze, develop, and maintain an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum, achieving desired outcomes.
- Promote education for patients, patient families, and the community.

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Experience
- Three years of nursing experience is required.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BCLS certification required
- Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months of hire
- New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible
