Position Summary

This position will provide project management support and thought leadership for the Bass Connections project team, Alcohol Use Behavioral Phenotyping Test for Global Populations.

 

This team, which includes faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students working together, will use scientific methods to accomplish adapting and implementing the Alcohol Use Behavioral Phenotyping Test (AUBPT) into global settings.

 

The research assistant will report to the project manager and faculty program lead.

 

Work Performed

The research assistant will help organize the team and keep the team moving forward by:

 

  • Working with the team to set milestones and a timeline for the project
  • Tracking progress towards milestones
  • Creating and managing a shared infrastructure for team communications and document sharing
  • Assisting student country site leads in communicating and scheduling meetings with global partners
  • Capturing important notes from meetings and communicating with the team between meetings to ensure progress
  • Assist in training students in relevant research methodologies
  • Meet weekly with the project leaders and students to discuss team progress and next steps
  • Identifying problems in the team’s operations and filter those up accordingly
  • Assist in corresponding with external partners
  • Travel to external partner sites to assist training local research partners
  • Lead manuscript development and assist in teaching students scientific writing

 

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with and communicate across a diverse group of faculty, administrators and students
  • Background in global health, the scientific method, research (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Basic knowledge of R studio and Nvivo software
  • Undergraduate degree in field related to AUBPT (neuroscience, global health, science etc.)

 

Work Schedule and Compensation

We are seeking a student who can work 10 hours a week, with occasional international travel (2 – 3 weeks at a time). This is a temporary, hourly position that will be available from August 2024 – June 2025. Hourly compensation will be $21/hour.
