Mac Internship Summer Program 2025

The Charmaine McKissick-Melton Communications Fellowship is a cornerstone of Duke’s commitment to fostering young talent, deepening community partnerships, and growing its professional network. Now in its 18th year, this 10-week summer program embeds NCCU Mass Communications majors into Duke’s communications offices—spanning the school of nursing arts, public policy, and university communications channels.

High Impact, Real-World Experience
Interns engage in professional-level communications work, including interviewing, writing, and producing content for Duke’s platforms. They gain a strong portfolio, mentorship, and career coaching, with many launching careers in PR and media—some even securing roles at Duke.

Program Investment
Mac Fellows receive $18/hour for up to 20 hours per week, plus a $3,500 stipend for living expenses, totaling a $7,000 commitment per student, already budgeted for FY25.

Strengthening Duke’s Communications Network
By welcoming  NCCU interns, Duke expands its communications capacity, enriches storytelling with diverse voices, and builds lasting professional connections—ensuring a pipeline of emerging talent in media and communications within our community.
