Undergraduate Research Intern – Family Connects & Community Navigation Evaluation

 

 

Job Summary:

 

Join a dynamic research team at Duke University focused on improving child and family well-being through data-driven evaluation. This internship offers a unique opportunity for an undergraduate student to gain hands-on experience with real-world research, data management, and analysis in support of multiple ongoing studies, including a new randomized controlled trial in Durham.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support data and evaluation work for four Family Connects impact evaluation studies and a new randomized controlled trial of the Community Navigation program.
  • Review and become familiar with interview protocols and data files from the NIH R37-funded grant Community Prevention of Child Maltreatment.
  • Learn and apply data tools such as Excel, SPSS, and SAS for data storage, management, and analysis.
  • Read and engage with recent manuscripts and research findings from the grant.
  • Conduct descriptive data analyses, write codebooks, clean data, and reconcile data errors.
  • Assist in preparing data analyses for presentations, reports, and empirical manuscripts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Duke undergraduate student
  • Interest in research, data analysis, and child/family well-being
  • Familiarity with Excel; willingness to learn SPSS and SAS
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  •  

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Prior experience with data analysis or coursework in research methods
  • Interest in public health, psychology, social science, or data science
